Breast thermography is a non-invasive with NO radiation, and NO compression. It analyzes the breast "physiology", as where a mammogram, analyzes the breast "anatomy" - Mammography uses radiation and compression to image for masses/tumors. Thermography uses no radiation to reveal underlying characteristics of a disease in process by relying on temperature variation(s) that take place in a disease process. Breast thermography can show early "warning signs" years before other screening procedures may reveal a mass (early detection) thereby allowing for early less invasive treatment without chemo or radiation. Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI) also referred to as Medical Thermography, Clinical Thermal Imaging, and Thermology, when used for medical purposes. It's a non-invasive process that helps medical professionals analyze the body's physiology through temperature measurements and pattern mapping. Images are taken without any physical contact, no radiation or compression, and the images can reveal altered biochemical changes which occur from underlying disease processes. The first set of images serve to establish a baseline, of which are used to compare with your future scans to determine if there have been any changes. Medical Thermal Imaging is an adjunctive screening tool used with other diagnostic testing to facilitate a proper diagnosis and treatment protocol for medical professionals. It is NOT a stand alone screening test used for diagnosing.
